Glengyle

Posted by frank

Glengyle Distillery is " up and running " again with mashing and distillation being carried out until May 22 nd. During this time a total of around 54,000 litres of alcohol will be produced which will mean that almost 423 barrel equivalents of Mitchell`s Kilkerran malt will be warehoused this year . Stuart Robertson is making his mark at Glengyle and is trying to get better extraction from the mash tun . With his experience I have no doubt that he will succeed . The Springbank production team are enjoying their short break away from home at Glengyle where they have the opportunity to operate some " new fangled " equipment . Of course Glengyle will soon have whisky available with the second of the distillations carried out during 2004 becoming three years old on May 4 Th. Sounds like a great excuse for a party , watch this space .... The first distillation carried out during March 2004 has been filled into six specially selected casks from differing wood types and will be bottled during 2014 . This bottling will be strictly limited to 700 bottles from each cask .

Cadenhead's Tasting Panel

Posted by Grant (Cadenheads)

Cadenheads Tasting Panel In an effort to involve more people in the selection for potential Cadenhead bottlings we have decided to have different Tasting Panels try out the selection of whiskies that have been selected. The Tasting Panels will decide if the whiskies are of a sufficiently excellent quality and make tasting notes for these whiskies. The first event was held through our shop in Amsterdam and was a great success with 12 people tasting and giving their opinions on 12 whiskies which are potentially being bottled by Cadenheads in May. The Tasting panel consisted of: Andries Visser Andre Van Der Zwet Michel Van Meersbergen Johannes Van Der Heuvel Robin Brilleman Joep Van Drunen Frank de Winter Marcel Pfeifer Joop Pfeifer Hjalmar Wolvekamp Johannes De Jong Erik Van Frachem Tasting Notes will follow shortly: In future I will be visiting our other shops in Berlin and Cologne in Germany and Odense in Denmark to carry out similar events for other guests of the shops. Our U.K. shops will not be forgotten and will also be included in the Tasting Panels.
