We are always keen to support any local ventures, and one of the most exciting is the newly opened Kintyre Way. This is a 96 mile walk that criss-crosses the Kintyre penninsula from Tarbert Loch Fyne down to the Mull of Kintyre. Panoramic views of Arran, Islay, Jura, Gigha, and as far as Ireland will leave walkers breathless, as will the hospitality enjoyed along the way.
Plans are in the pipeline for a Springbank Single Malt available exclusivelty to those who have walked the full 96 miles, and we are also planning at least one "Springbank Society & Friends" walk. Details of this and other Kintyre Way events will follow soon.

Mr Yuji Kikuchi, winner of one of the original Hazelburn paintings, has kindly sent us some photos. Frank and Stuart presented Mr Kikuchi with his prize after their Masterclass at Whisky Live! Tokyo on 18th February (fortunately the painting made it to Japan in one piece!) Below a photo of the presentation and one of it in-situ in the Speakeasy Bar in Osaka. The bar itself is pictured too. For anyone that can speak Japanese there is also a Speakeasy Blog [ http://speakeasy.usukeba.com/ ]

Now normally, I hate February - cold, dark, no money, nobody out - but this year was different as I was away on an extended work trip. Started off in Japan with Frank and Stuart where we attended Whisky Live! Tokyo then I left Frank and Stuart in the Northern Hemisphere and headed south with a quick stopover in Sydney then on to New Zealand for Dramfest in Christchurch, New Zealand's first whisky festival (and very good it was too). Then headed on to Blenheim and Wellington to do some tastings. Photos to follow. In between working very hard (Neil) I did manage to see a bit of the country too which was great as it was my first visit. For those of you that don't know me, I am a total sunworshiper so the chance to escape the cold and rain of a Scottish February was too good to miss. Reality hit with a bang though when I got back to Glasgow on Monday and had to drive back home to Campbeltown - 3 hours in the chucking rain and howling wind stuck behind very slow moving lorries most of the way. Not good. Just to illustrate my point;
