We had some colourful visitors to Springbank last week when the members of the Svaeveru Choir brightened up a dull Friday afternoon.
The Norwegian choir owns its own cask of Springbank Whisky and the members visit our warehouse every two years to check on the progress of their whisky. They then move on to the Craigard Hotel in Campbeltown, where they hold a conference (I think it's really an excuse to drink as much whisky as possible!). Their biennial trip to Scotland also includes a swin in Loch Lomond on their way to Campbeltown - they are either very brave or crazy as the water must be freezing in February!
Here are a couple of pictures from their visit - two members carefully inspecting their cask and the full choir outside warehouse number three.
You can find out more about the choir at their website at http://www.svaeveru.no
Since the “ODD “ competition was launched during December 08 we have had loads of replies , over 70 suggestions were received from all parts of the World including Australia .
The imagination shown and use of words from all were quite “ mind blowing “ , One of you even managed to get some ODD packaging designed which is based on the 25 year old Springbank bottle which was released to celebrate my 40 years in the trade . This person has removed my portrait and substituted it with a yellow canary . Pete Currie , Ranald Watson and Grant McPherson all reckon it is a great improvement .
As always there can only be one winner and this was not an easy decision as the entries were all very good . The “ ODD “ slogan that we reckon reflects our company`s image at the present time is “ Original , Distinct , Defiant “ and was sent in by Jonny Wilkins .
We will be sending out an “ ODD “ bottle to Jonny and his slogan will be printed on shirts which will be worn by Pete and myself during Whisky Live in Tokyo February 22 nd 2009 .
Thanks to all that have taken part .
