January is always a long, dark, cold month down here in Campbeltown after the excess of Christmas and New Year, so here is a little photo to cheer you all up. This is Kate, enjoying a quick nap, half way through the Christmas night out!!

I thought I would introduce myself properly this time. I'm Ranald Watson and I work in the Tasting Room (or in reality I live in a small cupboard in the Tasting Room with only a telephone and a computer for company). I've been working for J&A Mitchell since April 2006 doing distillery tours, whisky tastings and various other things. Hopefully I'll get to meet as many of you as possible when you come to Campbeltown to visit Springbank and Glengyle. It is our aim to regularly update this blog with news and views from the people who work at Springbank, some of whom have introduced themselves already. Be sure to check regularly to see what everyone has to say for themselves and, of course, feel free to add your own comments and give us any feedback. Slainte Ranald

Here is my map. 34 countries, or 15% of the world covered, however I'm not sure that we should endorse this competition, given concerns of Global Warming. I'm all in favour of making Springbank the worlds first "Carbon Neutral" distillery, and I'm sticking to my principles, unless I'm still ahead at the end of the year! Pete and I can be quite competitive. Latest game is who is the most widely travelled. There's not much in it but sadly at the moment Pete is just in the lead. I'm determined to win by the end of this year though. Will keep you updated on my progress. And Pete that's a challenge for you- you need to stay ahead to win! Countries in red have already been visited - white ones still to go, invitations welcome!

Now that we've got this set up I'm going to be the first one from Springbank to post! Hopefully no-one beats me to it.
